Biography - Ella

I initially started my working career teaching English Literature and History in schools throughout London and Western Australia. My passion for interacting with people no matter the age or background has driven me to lead teams and educate in a range of industries and I aim to continue this in my current role.

I recently worked in the renewable energy sector which opened my eyes to a range of issues not only in environmental terms but also in a technological sense. I am amazed at the variety of ways organisations claim to be helping the environment, all the while profiting from these short term technological fads through inaccurate marketing and no community education. It is for this reason that I work for Western Power in the Sustainability Assessment and Community Engagement team, dedicated to supporting our Smart Grid unit focusing on demand side management initiatives and edge of grid communities.

I believe in the early engagement and education of communities on long term solutions to energy efficiency. I also believe such education and community engagement should be stimulating and beneficial to all stakeholders. I am very much looking forward to developing and strengthening initiatives that meet these criteria.

In my spare time I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors whether that is on the tennis court or at the beach. I like to enjoy the simple things in life including family, friends and a beautiful sunset. I believe in taking each day as it comes whilst making a positive impact on those you meet and the environment we live in. I aim to continue to do this at Western Power.
